Breast Cancer Awareness

10/28/2016 (Permalink)

Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.

The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram – the screening test for breast cancer – can help find breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.

How can National Breast Cancer Awareness Month make a difference?

We can use this opportunity to spread the word about steps women can take to detect breast cancer early.

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Ask doctors and nurses to speak to women about the importance of getting screened for breast cancer.
  • Encourage women ages 40 to 49 to talk with their doctors about when to start getting mammograms.
  • Organize an event to talk with women ages 50 to 74 in your community about getting mammograms every 2 years.

Lost Dog

It was a beautiful warm fall morning when this little dog walked right through our marketing managers front door.  She was loading her car for her day at work at SERVPRO .  She took him to SERVPRO ENC with her.  They then took him to a neighborhood animal hospital to scan him to see if he had an identification chip.  He did not have a chip.  We then got him some food/ water and kept him comfortable.  Our Office manager used social media and Facebook to help located his owner.  He was then delivered to his owners.  They were very happy and appreciative to our SERVPRO of ENC Staff. A job well done ! We are always here to help you and your family !

*Please make sure your animals are properly tagged with identification*

Safe Tips For Trick or Treating:

For young children, Halloween night is one of the best of the year. But trick-or-treating can be dangerous if kids and parents aren't careful.

  • Plan a route in advance
  • Wear comfortable footwear
  • Stay well-lit
    • Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.
    • Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.
  • Make sure all costumes are short
    • When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
  • Avoid masks
  • Check your child's candy
    • Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.
    • Drive Extra Safely on Halloween

Patriotic Pride in the Park

On Sunday, July 3rd, the town of Niagara Veterans Park held its annual Patriotic Pride in the Park Event.  Our Sales Marketing Manager Reanna and her son attended the event representing SERVPRO of Eastern Niagara County.  The event had many vendors, which were mostly from the Western New York Area.  There were live bands and food trucks at the event.  Reanna enjoyed speaking to many people about how SERVPRO can help them in their daily lives. She also spoke on fire safety to many children who came by the exhibit.  SERVPRO of ENC also had a raffle and gave away a small thermal cooler with picnic wear. The weather was beautiful and the crowd was exceptional. It was a great time had by all. Thank you for having us
